One of three BOCES on Long Island, Western Suffolk BOCES provides 70 services to two or more districts more economically and efficiently than one district alone can provide. Western Suffolk BOCES helps school-age children and adults gain the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Western Suffolk BOCES has an elected Board of seven representatives from the 210 square mile area that makes up the western Suffolk County towns of Babylon, Huntington and Smithtown. Board members are elected for three-year terms and are responsible for policy governing Western Suffolk BOCES.<\/p>\n<p>The Boards of Cooperative Educational Services were created in 1948 by the New York State Legislature. Today 37 BOCES in New York serve 721 school districts.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #1b4b69;\">Programs are offered through these main divisions:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Special Education<\/li>\n<li>Career &amp; Technical Education<\/li>\n<li>Instructional Support Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #1b4b69;\">Other Services:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>BOCES also offers many administrative and management services to help school districts meet the needs of their students, staff and communities. Plan<\/h3>\n<p>The NYS Commissioner of Education has approved\u00a0the\u00a0Annual Professional Performance Review Plan (APPR) submitted by Western Suffolk BOCES as meeting\u00a0the criteria outlined in the Commissioner\u2019s Regulations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsboces.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/APPR_plan_Western_Suffolk_BOCES_jan2013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">APPR Education Law 3012-c and Subpart 30-2<\/a> <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a
